MRSEC Education Directors Network Meeting

The Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers Education Directors conducted a workshop September 14-17, 2008 in Princeton, New Jersey. The purpose of this workshop was to begin addressing the recommendations of the National Academy of Science’s report, Looking Back, Moving Forward, to the Education & Outreach Community.
The main focus of this dedicated working meeting was to produce one product, a Logic Model. The group collectively produced one product for each E/O concentration area, 6 Logic Models total – visual and textual representations of the cross-center EO goals and how they align with NSF broader impact goals, specifically with regard to increasing diversity. By carefully examining Center goals and aligning to the NSF and MRSEC program goals, Center EO directors are informed and prepared for the next steps in addressing those recommendations from Looking Back, Moving Forward. In addition to the working meeting, the group hosted a poster session and meeting time for the workgroups (Diversity, Science Content, and Evaluation).
